Left: This border’s star performer is the globeflower ‘lemon queen’ set off beautifully with taller purple allium and a dark leafed euphorbia ‘chameleon’ in the background.
Right: Pink flowering bergenia is at the front of this raised bed with purple flowering bugleweed, yellow annual pansies and silver gray snow-in-summer. The dark leafed heucheura in the background adds a punch of colour.
Left: Here white arabis (rock cress) forms a background for the pink moss phlox which is also complement with the gray-blue colours of the globe blue spruce in the foreground.
Right: In a shady location at the base of a rock garden the periwinkle blue flowers in the foreground are reflected in the spiky blue flowers of the bugleweed further back. But foliage is the star performer here with delicate ferns, bold iris leaves and hostas both variegated and blue leafed.
Left: Bugleweed (ajuga) is a common groundcover that gives a wonderful spring display of violet flowers. Here an artful vignette is created with a blue chair echoing the flowers of the bugleweed at its feet with the cooling greens of a fresh fern and variegated lamium.
